error message

I have MAC OS10.3. I just installed limewire.
I changed the save settings so that songs would be saved in iTunes. After a song is downloaded, I get an error message that says "Attempting to copy to the disk 'storage' (the name of my HD) failed. You do not have enough access priveleges for this operation."
Can someone please help.
Thanks

No you're going about things the wrong way (IMO.)

Change your LW Downld folder to a new location (LW Prefs>Saving.) Somewhere in your own user account. And also go to LW's Preferences>iTunes>Importing & tick enable iTunes importing & press the Apply button. Now all your music files will be copied into iTunes library upon completion of downlding. It does mean however that you'll have 2 copies of each mp3. One in iTunes library & another in your LW Downld folder.

Upon re-reading your post, if you hadn't set your LW downld folder to the iTunes library, then you must have set it to somewhere outside of your user account. My main partition is called OSX & my user account is OSX>Users>Lotr but I don't save my files onto this partition. I save them onto a different partition. Just make sure you have write permissions to the folder you're saving to.

And make sure you have permissions to write to every enclosing folder above that folder.

Make sure you Repair Permissions after installing any softw.

The diagram that you show on your reply...about read/write permissions. Where is that? I did what you said in your first response and I had the same problem. I want to follow through and do what you suggested in your 2nd response but I don't quite understand.
Thanks. And I am glad there is a way to do this.

My LW Downld folder is called just that: LW' Downlds

Select your LW downld folder (whatever it's called), & go to menu & select Get info...
Other ways of doing that are to hold down both the apple & i keys or Control-click the folder & select Get info. Change it to Read & Write permissions.

Also make sure the folders it belongs to you have full permissions to write to. All the way up to your Username folder. Make sure you are saving in your username folder or else a different HDD partition. Directly in your username folder will probably be fine!

Did you repair permissions for your computer. Instructions in link I gave you. Restart the comp & hold down the shift key. Then open Disk Utility & repair permissions (& any other repairs.)
