cant play wmv
 

when ever i try to play these i get an ipod ad what do i do to fix this?

Nothing: you simply downloaded a fake file.
Be careful of .wmv files because they are often (too often) fake. Opt for .avi or .mpeg if you can.
Also, don't download stuff that looks like T_H_I_S or that show a size of around 170 KB. All fake (or maybe worse...)

Can you help me in the fact that wmv is giving me sound but no picture. This is an avi file I have downloaded that will not play, is there a reason for this?

I am really starting to get annoyed as all I want to do is download some eps and I keep getting new things thrown at me when I followed the so called easy step by step guide, is it something I am missing on my computer? I do not know, please help as I am a bit of a novice and need dummy guides.

Uh, terri? You have two problems or just one? If you have a problem with .wmv, then my best suggestion would be to simply avoid this troublesome format.
It may also be that the file actually doesn't have an audio track.
As for the .avi problem, yes, something is missing from your computer: codecs.
Just download VLC (www.videolan.org/vlc/), install it, find your Shared folder (in LW's options, go to Saving and then use your browser to go to the location specified there) and open the file through there (I suggest you always open them like this).

Finally, remember that LW's developpers aren't responsible of the files shared in Gnutella: we, the users are. The step-by-step (ooh babeh! ugh) guide they provided is easy but it doesn't guarantee that the files you'll get will all be perfect (as you no doubt noticed ;))
