continuously veryfing file

i'm a newbie here. i just installed limewire 4.4.1 and started downloading a file. is it normal that after 100% download, the status says verifying file.. then it downloads again, reaches 100%, verify file again, and so on.. it's been hours that i've tried to download this 5,645kb mp3 file. up til now, i havent gotten one complete file. i tried finding solutions everywhere including google and all over this forum. what am i doin wrong? help me please..
