Downloads Are Not Working!

I am not sure why my downloads arnt working, I got a pop up the other day in limewire, and I clicked OK without reading, and now when I search a word, the tab with the word doesnt come up, and no searches are displayed, but i can see the limewire emblem spinning in the top right corner.

Does anyone know what the pop up may have said? And how I can fix this problem??

Does LW say you are connected? How many coloured bars are in the LW connection quality in the bottom left hand side? Are these red or green?

If you've been using LW for a while & this is a sudden issue then try Fixes for Limewire

I have all green bars, and it says Excellent.

I wonder if your search results are hidden. If you look very carefully on the LW main window you will see 2 very small arrows. Click them to see if your search results become visible.

The search tab doesn't come up? Sounds odd. Which version of LW are you using? Go to your LW menu Help>About LW & select this. This will tell you which LW version you have.

I went to the control panel to add/remove problems then to see if I could "fix" it, but LimeWire isnt even on my add/remove programs! But I know it is working, becuase I can listen to my songs that I have already downloaded.

I also cleared all the songs in my incomplete folder, but that doesnt seem to be doing anything.

Client 3.8.7?? Is that what you wanted to know?

I know about the little arrows, its not that.. and the tab thing is just too weird!!

Did you update your Java?

Which suggestions have you tried so far?

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image

OK that's an old version of LW. Did you run thru all the suggestions in the above link for fixing LW?

sweet03jessica February 7th, 2005 09:17 AM

No I have not updated my Java, I have done all the suggestions, and the bug report says False. Now when I open LimeWire it wants to freeze up and beep at me when I click on anything!

Did you Repair it whilst LW was closed (MUST be closed)?

Can you give us some background info about your computer:

1. OS version?
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram? 4. HDD space available?
5. Connection type?
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?

You you tried deleting LW's preferences whilst LW was closed & it didn't work?

WHich version of Java do you have on your system? My suggestion to update your Java version 1.4.x OR version 1.5 (take the JRE) Java is very important for LW & the network.

I am not computer savvy at all! I have no clue what you are asking me, sorry!

Yes, I did the updates while LimeWire was closed!

This is a shot in the dark. If your using windows in contol panel. Double left click on system. The general tab should list your operating system and CPU type and how much RAM you have installed. Not sure which version your using.

Under the hardware tab click device manager. This will list all the items installed. Find modem and click the + this will expand it and show which modem you are using.

If you don't have the ability to Repair LW whilst it is closed. Then it sounds as though you installed with what was known as the international (multilingual) installer & not the english installer. The problem with the old international installer version is that it installed Java 1.3 & enforced LW to use it. As the Gnutella network has developed & possibly updates to your OS this Java version might be struggling.

OS=Operating system (eg: Windows 98 or XP, etc.)
HDD=Hard Disk Drive (where everything is stored.)
Connection type= dial up modem, or broadband or cable, etc.

Have you considered updating LW?: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
