Why can't I resume a download from a firewall

Download/Upload Problems Problems with downloading or uploading files through the Gnutella network.

Why can't I resume a download from a firewall

Many downloads from overseas time out before they are completed. Normally the resume feature works fine but those Gnutella clients that are firewalled won't resume at all. Only if I to start a new search I might get connected again. Question: Can this be done automatically by Limewire?
