Connected but seaches retrieve nothing I have Limewire pro, now version 4.4.5, and I am sure that it has worked OK at some time in the recent past, but now when I log on it shows "connected" and "turbo-charged" and "sharing files", but when I do a search, even for Elvis, or what's new, it returns nothing....I am running Windows XP, connected via cable to the internet although it is through a wireless router. I have tried a few of the fixes for connection problems and I have also turned off my windows firewall without success. I have written support several times without an answer so here I am....Thank you |
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. What firewalls you have? 2. ram? 3. HDD space available? 4. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 5. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 6. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. 1st suggestion is to try these: Fixes for Limewire |
I have the same problem and none of the limewire fixes helped. I formatted my computer last night so i have plenty of space HDD ram etc. I use broadband connection and do not have my firewalls enable. I have an Arris and i am connecting from home please help. Thanks. SsTiger730 |
I am connecting via a cable modem RCA model #DCM105 , it is a broadband connection. I have 512 mb of RAM and plenty of hard drive space (several gigs). My firewall is through my Linksys wireless router and I have changed nothing with that since last successful downloads. I am connecting from home. Thank you, Da Slug |
I have the same prob slug, i am connectin with the following 2mb download/2.5 upload cable internet 2 gig pc3200 ram p4 3.4 extreme processor Gigabyte 2004GT motherboard 2x 120 gig hard drives i am running windows xp professional with sp1 i have tried all the fixes and nothing works the only way i can download is go to the connections and download off of them, but they don;t have what im looking for. PLEASE help with this, i paid 18.88 from limewire.com for pro and i can't even use it right. Thank you in advance stang |
same problem I am having the same problem lately. I'm connected, turbo charged, and the searches start out OK, files coming into the queue. But then suddenly files stop coming in. I'll try another search, for something that would normally produce hundreds of files, but nothing comes in. Just started happening recently. Am running Windows ME with an RCA cable modem |
Just a little additional...I thought maybe my Linksys router may be causing this, but I disconnect that and it is still doing it, or not doing it whatever it is...also my daughter tried Bearshare on our network and it did not work either so I guess it is a problem with my machine or maybe my ISP.... |
WHich ISP is it? There had been a recent inrush of users from Insight which is a Limewire blocker Comcast is another that apparently has been guilty in the past. And Cox & EURO1NET & TISCALI are also in this. Of course Cox doesn't seem to apply to all users but just selected one. If it's not your isp then there might be something wrong with your configuration to allow LW access. |

Umm that doesn't sound good. I just had a suspicion due to your problem. Click on the links I left in my previous post. |
i also hsve insightbb |
Thank you for your help. It sounds like we know the problem now. I will have to look into Zoomtown. I also have to reconfigure my router since I screwed all my settings up trying to fix this problem :o) |
I have insight bb as well. Sounds like that may be the problem so how do i fix it. |
You can follow the links I gave which (sorry) follow onto other links which give a suggestion how somebody else solved their problem (Ne0teric) directly here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=32882 They are still using this solution successfully. They temporarily had an issue with LW 4.4 & reverted to 4.2.6 but have since sorted the issue with 4.4 They're not sure why they initially had that issue but it still works for them. As mentioned Zoomtown can also do better deals & don't block/filter but it's up to you which way you go. You can always pm Ne0teric if you have any problems taking their direction. DaSlug you can configure your router here using Port 6346: http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm & look for Linksys at the top-middle-right I think. If your router uses UPnP technology then under LW's Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls select UPnP & press Apply. If not use that tech. then manual Force IP as in here: Force IP instructions & sample image & two posts underneath that. But remember that if you do forward a port you MUST 1st set up a Static IP. Instructions are at the portforwrd.com site. |
