Can't play songs

Hey guys, I just got Limewire last night. It won't play songs! I've clicked play but hear nothing!

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 02:19 PM

Well it's either your computer settings such as volume control or LW is too busy with it's main functions to play them properly. Also, you can only preview songs you've partially downlded. You can't preview songs that show up in the search results unless you have downlded a % at least.)

If you disable LW's media player then your default player will play instead (LW's menu Tools>Options>Player & untick option & press Apply button.) If you don't have a reliable player then might I suggest you instead use iTunes: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ (it's free) OR QCD (also free): http://www.quinnware.com/

On LW's menu bar is Tools. Select that then select Options. Wait for this window to open. Then go down to Player & untick box & press Apply.

Not working

It's still not working

So what is your default audio player? Open it & play some music. Can you hear anything? Sounds like a computer setting. How about volume, etc. Are you listening thru the comp or headphones? Go to your Control panels & open 'Sounds & Multimedia'. Check the settings.

When I play Kazaa I can hear the music.

fabion March 4th, 2005 07:20 PM

Try left double clicking the icon, and see if it starts to play that way.

Also try and enqueue the file. Make sure the continous play option is checked. Then try the play button.

See if that helps.

Limewire

Where does it have 'continous play'?
You really need to be specific in your posts, I'm new to Limewire.

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 08:36 PM

The continuous button is on the playlist! Thought it would be obvious. It sits just above the player controls. Have a look at the play button. Just above it is the option to tick continuous. Have a look here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...487#post116487

Limewire

Nope. My playlist seriously isn't there. It just has an add.

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 08:42 PM

It's next to play options to the right of the playlist. There's no adds within LW. Have a look at the link I gave above. Where did you get LW from? Did you get it from here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
Which version of LW do you have?

Simple#1 March 4th, 2005 08:44 PM

I got the playlist there now. I clicked continuous, it still aient playing.

Oops! I clicked create new thread my mistake. I meant to click post new reply. Sorry.

I got the playlist there. Clicked continous. Still aient working.

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 08:50 PM

Try adding some songs to the playlist using the Enqueue button & play directly from the playlist. See if that helps.
What type of mp3's are they? Are they rm (realplayer) or wma files?

Simple#1 March 4th, 2005 08:51 PM

LW

What's the Enqueue?

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 08:55 PM

Select a song from the library & press the Enqueue button & it will send the song to the playlist. See how to do it in the iTunes post link I gave above. Then select the song in the playlist with our cursor, then press the play button. You must select a song to play it.

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 09:01 PM

Hold on. At the start of the thread I told you to disable your player so your default player would play instead. If you want LW's media player to play then you'll need to go back & enable it. Tools>Options>Player & tick option box & press the Apply button. Now go back, select a song from the library & play it or send it to the play list to play it.

I got it in the playlist. It's not working.

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 09:21 PM

Can you answer the above questions about song format & where you got LW.

What is your default audio player? If you don't have one then how about getting a decent free one like iTunes: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ which will organise your music into artist & their albums in sub-folders underneath. Or get QCD: http://www.quinnware.com/ (another free player.) Make whichever one the default audio app. Then disable LW's media player & Bingo your problems will be over.

Lord of the Rings March 4th, 2005 09:35 PM

Oh I've made a small error. Fabion just reminded me you need to close LW for any changes to the player to take effect. I just tried it out. So to use your default player instead or LW's media player, you'd need to untick the option box for the player, press apply & ok. Then close LW & re-open it. Also vice versa if you want to enable LW's media player. Sorry about that. :o
