Leaf node shielded by ultrapeer????????
 

Every time I look in the monitor window and click on the "show" check box under incoming searches, a message appears saying that my client is a leaf node shielded by an Ultrapeer so I only see few or no searches. That is true. Before, I used to have a lot of people downloading from my PC. Now, no one is downloading from my PC and barely anyone is searching.

What is a leaf node and what is an ultrapeer? Also, what does the message stated above mean?

Also, a leaf doesn't have to handle all the search traffic going on. It's "shielded" from irrelevant requests. So your ultrapeers only sends searches to your leaf for files that might match your shares.

This saves you a fair bit of bandwidth, which means your searches and transfers should go a bit faster.

It's good being a shielded leaf. Ultrapeers get other advantages to help make up for handling most of the traffic.

how does one become an ultrapeer?
i myself have uber dsl (dling at 800+KBps and uploading 100+ on a good day)
im tired of these 20-50KBps dls and the client shielded leaf node thing

ive gone through all the config, but cant figure it out

asdqwe, as long as you can accept incoming connections, LW will automatically decide if you can become an Ultrapeer (usually on startup, or within 1/2 an hour).

You can see if you can accept incoming by looking in the options->bug reports->Example

Scroll through the info and look for the line

Received incoming this session: true

If it says "false" there's a block in the way, usually because the port hasn't been forwarded through your firewalls and/or routers. You can search these forums for "Received incoming this session" to see many links to how to ask and find info about opening ports.
