Try deleting your LW preferences folder, instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

May I ask who your isp provider is?

Within LW, go to your downloads window & click at the top of the Progress bar. This will arrange the incomplete files by %. Now go to the 1st you see at 0%, select it, then scroll down to the bottom to the last one & holding down the SHIFT key select that one. Then press the Stop button. Now go to your incomplete folder (outside of LW), & arrange it by size. Delete all of those that are 0 KB. This will reduce a lot of drag on LW.

Select only those that have multiple stars for downlding where possible (preferably 4 stars) and with a large no. in the # column.

Some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.

By the way have you seen the Sticky on AOL users in the Connections section!?
