Default down load Issues

Ok - I have read some of the other users issues and applied what you have told them to do. But first let me give you some details. I am using a Dell 8500 Inspiron with many options, and using SBC's DSL PRO ( Higher downloading speeds). When I start Limewire Pro up my down loading speeds are quite good, then they drop down to 1 - 3 and then 0. I can force them to down load but I never get the speeds up to were they were when starting Limewire. I allow users to share from my files but I notice they get droped off. I had Mcafee firewall installed but I have removed it as I thought it was the problem. And ya one more thing, Limewire seems to pull a huge amount of resource from my computer whats up with that. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

After LW's been open at least 20 mins, do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/False?

To reduce drag on LW:
1. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

2. After opening LW wait 10 to 20 mins before using. Let it settle down 1st.

3. Go to LW's prefs>Speed & tick disable Ultrapeer Cap. & press apply button.
Set both uplds & downlds to autoclear.
Close all LW windows you don't need open at that time.
If you're not in front of your comp, then hide LW in the background or Task bar.
Reduce uplds to about 70-80% or more. Reduce downlds to 80 or 90%.

4. Also don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time. This functon can have side-fx & tends to be over-used by many people.

5. If I find a downld slows then I'll re-search it. This can re-energise it. Also stopping it from the downld window & re-selecting from the search results can have the same effect. (I also try not to downld too many files at one time.)

Cool Thanks for the Information

I have applied the changes that you had advised and they were not 100% effective but I will have to say they did inprove the process. LW still pulls a huge amount of resorces from any system but I guess it is the nature of the beast. Thanks again for your assistance.
