Default Massive File Size

Hi First time user first time poster here.

Now ive just D/l the newst vr of L-W early tonight.
Which is all fine and good. But My Main Problem is that after finishing dl a song, the song is some how grown in file size. The normal size is ment to be 32mb *tis a long song* But in the folder that it is stored in says its about 650mb.....Now ive looked around to see if there was another file that was its normal size but i cant find it anywhere..and i know i couldnt of dl that much anyway as im on dial up..

So really there is 2 things i need to know..

1: Why did this happen?

2: Is there anyway i can shrink/get back to the normal size?

so yea....sorry if this is in the wrong place...just seemed like the right place...

But thanks in advance.

Never heard of that before. Have you tried to play it? COuld be a system or file error .. giving the system incorrect info; ie: possibly corrupt.

(see T3 Spammers; mp3 Bit-Rates Versus File Sizes)

And what bit-rate & song length & so-called original file size is it?

Could be a case of something within the file itself that needs repair. As I said earlier, it's telling the system the wrong info. Personally I'd run my system & 3rd party file utilities over it to correct any wrong flags & indicators.

If you use a mac, use disk utility & if you have norton use disk doctor & if you have disk warrior run it over that HDD or partition. This is an almost common occurence on macs. It's an error that can be repaired!

May I ask do you use a mac. I have a horrible suspicion you use a mac b/c this would be unheard of on windows. Whilst the data itself might be fine, the small tabs on the file that the system reads is incorrect giving it incorrect info. So what you need is a file utility to repair it. Not such a big issue if you have those utilities.

As you probably know on a mac, flags that should be opened or closed are sometimes incorrectly set. On OS 9 & earlier you might rebuild the desktop to repair & perhaps run First Aide Utility.
