Download Problems? Try This

If you used to D/L at a speed more than 10k/b and suddenly it dropped to 0k/b here is what i did and poof my D/L speed is back!

Go Tools,Options Bug Reports:Check if, Received incoming this session: true or false? if true no problem, if false you may have a firewall blocking.

Next Tools,Option, Advanced, Firewall Config: Put 80 in the listen on port instead of 6346. Next Use Manual Port Fowarding and enter 80.

Next Hit Connect!

DONE!

I'm sure it is! Myros is a known Ares spammer, commonly known around forums as a Troll. Nothing positive to say b/c their main objective is their choice of p2p & want to come here & elsewhere to rubbish other responsibly programmed gnutella p2p clients which Ares is not. Otherwise it would be included in these respectable gnutella forums. Keep trolling Myros & your posting here will be short-lived. Take the warning. ;)

How is it spamming again?

ARES LITE DOES RUN FASTER THAN LIMEWIRE. Holy **** its like if I dont support Limewire I'm a troll? Go screw yourself!

At least a total of 25Kbs is better than 0-3kbs.

Kire April 26th, 2005 04:25 AM

AWESOME!!!!!Thanks dude. That really helped. Although some of the files i'm downloading are still quite low but most of them actually don't drop to Okbp/s anymore. Thanks a bunch again.really appreciate it.

Myros April 26th, 2005 07:23 AM

MAX_DOWNLOAD_BYTES_PER_SEC=61

Hmm, Im pretty sure this means your total kbs on the downloads is allowed to 61. That is great if you're running on 512. Mine just says 9, so freaking agitating.

Well, I'm going to format soon. It'll probably work then. I'll also try to increase/add a bit of DDRAM.

dyingtolive April 26th, 2005 09:43 AM

hey no problem! some people still can't get this to work probably because your internet worm protection is on or windows firewall om. try to disable all firewalls.

check your secruity centre if you're using windows xp sp2. if it's on off it. if it's not i may have and answer.

anway i'm using an adsl @ a speed of 256kbps so i dunno how the hell it reached to 61kbs seriously.

KIRE, same goes for me cause there're some bad host. it's possible. if you connect to a bad host, you will not recieve anything from them. try to filter out speeds or rating

Myros April 26th, 2005 03:11 PM

Yeah, but you see dude, the problem is I try to d/l three files at once, all of 'em with a sufficient number of hosts. Still, the 3 d/ls would run on 3kbs each.

As I said, Limewire only seems to be causing this problem, and I really wonder why. I d/led a patch to configure the sp2 file and stuff, it excelled some other programs' performances, except for LW. It seems it always sets my max connection speed on all d/ls to be a total of 9, even after setting the port to 80.

Well, like I said, I'm going to format my PC soon. I'll try red/ling it then and checking it out.

I'm impressed though, how did you come up with such a solution? It seems to be working with a majority of the users. :)

dyingtolive April 26th, 2005 05:44 PM

i just played around. if your read some thread they asked to forced ip on 6346. i read a thread saying 6346 is for Gnutella. then there is another thread on isp blocking 6346 and the only port which cannot be blocked is 80 or 8080 cause if your isp blocks it you can't surf https.
