problem with "verifying download"

i have a download that when it gets to about 98% completed with the verifying download content, all of limewire freezes and when i minimize it, when its back up its just all white and i have to force it to end. any help?

Normally it will try to verify up to 6 times before giving up. Either there's lost info or the file at its origin is corrupt which might be as little as a single bit or byte.

You'll probably find it's a one in 10,000 & won't happen often again. You might want to downld from another source instead & delete that one. If it's a movie then 2% will probably only mean the credits at the end. You can probably play it.

right, thats what i thought. but now when i open limewire i tell it to stop the verifying and all of limewire freezes, and i am forced to end it again. also i tried telling it to preview but nothing happens when i press it.

No I would take it out of the incomplete folder then. Also delete it from the downld window. So once out of the incomplete folder you can then move it wherever & use your media player to open it. Don't use LW to open it for now. So is it a video or audio file?

its a video file, but i was very confused when i didnt see it in the incomplete folder, but it is still in the download window

Stop it from your downld window. List your incomplete folder by size (select the incomplete folder & press Explore) & arrange by size so you can easily find it that way. Then remove it; cut/drag & drop somewhere else & try opening it with your media player. I've had successful movie files where LW initially gave up on verification & renamed it as corrupt.

if i tell it to stop from the download window, limewire freezes. and its not even in the incompletes window. inside limewire there are more things in the incomplete window than there are when searching through my computer, yet the video file im looking for is still not there

Safest thing to do then is close LW down. Then remove it. It might be stuck in transit or something. lol :D After closing LW check the incomplete & shared folders & even do a search on your comp using your search engine. Just use part of the movie's title.

thanks, i searched through files inn my computer and found the video, and its completed! (except for most of the end credits) it was in folder C:\WINDOWS\recent , no idea how it got there. at leats i can finish my movie now(it was part 2) i suppose i have to reinstall LW, yet is there any way to save the current progress of another movie thats downloading at around 90%?
thanks for the help

Uninstalling & reinstalling your LW will not affect your incompletes. Your incomplte preferences are stored in a file called downld.dat which is found in the incompletes folder. This file should never be tampered with. Since you already have preferences set, everything should remain the same after you re-install. (By the way, the downld preferences & LW preferences are separate files found in different locations.)
