gotta make it hard

I was just wondering if anyone knew if .bin files work on PC's. I know they are compressed files but i wanted to know if they work or would i have to download somthing else. And why do people have to use sooo many different file types like .rar .ace .bin .iso ... Why don't people just use one type of file for Mac's and One type of file for PC's. It would make it easier for downloaders which downloaders could then get more files and more files = faster, bigger, and better Limewire

Just think about that next time you save files under some funky file type... just think about it

Peace Out... JiMMMMaaa@a!

Ever since DOS 1.0, over the past 25 years (!!!) hundreds of thousands of programmers have written billions of lines of code for millions of programs...

When in doubt, programmers create new file extensions!!!

The file extension is just three little letters after a dot (.)

If you are lucky, some program on your computer with a file association will understand the specific file structure and do something meaningful...

Jimma it sounds like you're a mac user. Yes bin was used for OS 9 & earlier but would be very, very rare to see it used for OSX. Bin for windows is either a part of a cd image file or game, but for mac is similar to hqx & sit. If you know what you're looking for you should be able to guess which platform it belongs to. View other files in the search results of same size. Even browse someone with a bin file to see if their other files are for windows or mac. Not so many bin files for mac being shared nowadays.
