Hi,
A question on the way searching works. I found it rather strange that, when looking for an old song "911 is a joke" from P*bl*c *n*my, that when I search on the words "P*bl*c *n*my" the song is not found. When I search on "911 is a joke" though, I get a freakin 355 hits. How does this work? Do I not understand the search function? Thnx Last edited by Lord of the Rings; May 14th, 2005 at 10:58 PM. |

Try a general type search if audio search doesn't work well for you. Yep all types of search approaches can give you varying results. Search under artist & you'll probably get the most common/popular songs. Search under title & you'll get results of the title from that artist & possibly others. If you use a general (any type) search you could search artist title.

But I wonder why when I search on "P*bl*c *n*my" I do not find 9-11 is a joke (while there files are plenty files that match my query). Any clue?
Strange, or ....???? |

I've wondered the same thing myself but just come to live with it. lol
I've used LW for a few yrs & it's just part of how it works. Under artist search it will most likely show up with the most commonly found of those files belonging to the artist. What you can do is ... once your search results come in ... if they have chat enabled then there's a reasonable chance you can browse or direct connect to them. So then you can see if they have more files belonging to that particular artist. This is a very handy technique to get a hold of certain files. To do it you should have chat enabled (for some reason it seems to make browsing easier.) To learn more about browse host & dc see: How to Direct Connect, Browse & Chat As for the logic behind the way the search works ... it's probably a bit technical & I can't I'm not sure.
