Can one or both of you please give some more detail. It's difficult to understand your problem. Which OS do you use & detail what happens in much more explanative technique & tell us which windows of LW things do or don't happen.

Help I cannot download anything

Help I cannot download anything
I am very new to all this. I downloaded limewire basic yesterday. It installed ok. The icon appeared on my desktop. I clicked into it today to start downloading. I clicked on search and entered artist and album. It began to search. The little tab top with the name of the search on it started fo fill with colour. When the search ended nothing happened. There was no message saying the songs could not be found. I thought maybe it was my choice of song that could not be found so i picked lots of different pop songs that would be popular at the moment and still nothing is appearing. Im really getting fed up at this stage. Please help, I know someone out there has the answer!!!

songs do not appear

I type in my search. For example... [Edit]. I click on the search button. On the top of the screen appears the tab with the title appearing and the tab fills up with blue as it is searching. But nothing appears in the big white box. No options to choose the song to download. I know it is searching because earlier that day as I did a search and the tab was "filling" up, songs would then appear in the big white box. I just tried it again this a.m. and it still is not working.

You asked the question of what OS I'm am using. Sorry, what does OS stand for? Not real computer savy. :) Thanks in advance for your help with this.

Of the options I can think of. Either your isp provider is using a p2p filter to stop your use of LW. Or you aren't yet set up properly due to firewalls or your technique of searching needs to be improved.

* Try this: Search the Beatles. See if you get any results. After opening LW wait 5 mins or more before using.

A. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If False then you have aa firewall issue.

B. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Did you configure your firewall to allow LW full access; instructions: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

Bugs

Lord of the Rings,
I tried the "Bug" thing and it does say false.....so I guess I do have a firewall issue. How do we change that to true?

Thanks again for your help so far.

Steph
