Limewire 2.8.6 not uploading

I have good connections and searches are flying by in the monitor window but no one is downloading any of my 4400 files over here..

It worked fine with the newer limewire!!
What's the story here?

1Ghz PIII CPU, linksys router, Sb4100

2.8.6 is bad for Gnutella. Use 4.8.1 please :o Even firewalled 4.8.1 supports firewall to firewall transfers so you'll see much more uploads.

I see about 3-4 times as many searches with the older one and it lets me have 12 connections... though!

yes, maybe more results, but there 4 times less downloadable results, the download mesh to find new sources broken, support of new features absent. What do you want: search results or downloads? - yeah, though one

(hint if everybody used 2.8.6, you wouldn't see 1/10 of the results you see now using the same version -- it is outdated technology)

I can download fast and quick and searches work very well.. also I am seeing alot of searches in the *monitor* window..

But no one can download from me
I've been trying to figure out how to forward 6346 but the router has only

Ext. Port
Protocol TCP
Protocol UDP
Int. Port
IP Address

And I can't select TCP and UDP,, it has to be one or the other.. if TCP is checked and I select UDP - tcp unchecks itself

4.8 has UPnP support that opens port 6346 for you if your router supports UPnP, 2.8 cannot do that.

Anyway I give up on you, 2.8 in the current state of Gnutella is REALLY bad.

Ah, I see... Can anyone tell me how to have more than five connections with a newer version of limewire?

et voilą June 3rd, 2005 06:15 PM

YOU CAN'T!!!!

What's the story?
I can download and search alot more effeciently with more connections!

et voilą June 3rd, 2005 06:47 PM

Yeah but at the expense of the network! More people like you = a much slower network with less results and lower dl speeds. Think of it, if it was better to get more connections for everybody, the devs would increase the number of connections to a very high number, don't know think? More connections = more overhead, less bandwidth for transfers and a slower network.

When will people get that?

That "I want more connection behaviour" comportement is so selfish and lame
