Partial Downloads not resumable? Please help me. Hi, I was downloading a few large files using Limewire and had a couple of them on 90+% , and were going to finish, when my computer crashed on me. When I restarted my comp, and went on Limewire, I realised that my downloads have all disappeared. I then went to the incompleted folder in my library and resumed them manually. However, all downloads were only able to resume at 0% and that includes files that I have downloaded up to 300mb of. Naturally that P*ssed the hell out of me, and I went to check out the files that were partially downloaded. However the file size of the partially downloaded files were correct, that is they showed the 300mb downloaded already before my system crashed. Can anyone help me? I am at my wits ends and took like a long time to even reach those percentages. I don't really want to start again. I would be really grateful Thanks |
The crash may mean that they can't be resumed, but they should. Repeat search, and if new sources for that file are found, once they start downloading the percentage should jump to the real amount. If not, then the crash meant that the downloads.dat and .bak files in the Incomplete folder (they keep track of the incomplete pieces) became corrupted, and there's nothing else you can do. I Hope they resume. . . that's a real pain when they don't. |
For windows it seems that crashes or not shutting LW down properly before shutting down computer is the main or most common cause for corrupted downld preferences as Stief pointed out. (Some people regularly back up the downld.dat & bak files if their system is prone to crash consistently.) |
Then I pretty much guess i have to redownload all over again. Stupid corrupt download.dat and bak files...Thanks guys. It was informative if anything. I will back em up regularly now. |
