Computer Restarts

I have a really big problem and would appriciate the help. The problem is whever i run limewire the CPU usage in task manager goes up to between 60-100%, and after different random times the computer restarts itself suddenly. The only program that causes this is limewire...

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Do you use a USB or other type of modem/router?
10. Do you have a large no. of shared files or do you have a large no. of incomplete files?
11. Do you use the Resume/Find Sources button on many files simultaneously?

Thanks for the info. However it would've helped if you'd answered some of the last questions also. LW should not cause your comp to restart. I hope you've checked your computer over with reliable antivirus, anti spy& adware utilities.

If you have changed your graphic card settings, try setting them back to default to see if it helps.

Other than that, Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on link) & if you have large shares of files, reduce them a little.

* After opening LW wait 10 to 20 mins before using. Let it settle down 1st.

* Go to LW's prefs>Speed & tick disable Ultrapeer Cap. & press apply button.

* Set both uplds & downlds to autoclear.

* Reduce uplds to about 70-80% or more.

* Don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This can have side-fx such as affect LW's connection quality. May queue your files for much much longer. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time.
