downloaded lime wire, won't open now

I downloaded the software, went through the set-up, then when I clicked on the icon on my desktop to start the program, it brings up a start-up box and then dissappears and no program is there to run? I can't access anything. Please help.

Try a couple of things, delete your LW preferences 1st. If that doesn't work then re-install Java. But save the Java installer to your computer before installing. Don't install over the net. For instructions & links see Fixes for Limewire (click on link)

If you're using a mac operating system then please tell us b/c you'll need totally different instructions.

I've tried reinstalling it. I am not sure what you mean by reinstalling Java? Or deleting LW Preferences? I have no screen or anything to modify or do anything to. I click the program to start and am left with a clank screen????

Open up your Add/Remove control panel & use that to remove Java. Then install it again. Java might have been broken during the installation process. This can heppen if you install over the internet & not from your computer. Follow the instructions carefully. See the link I gave you. The answers are ALL there. Even samples about how you can delete your LW Preferences folder.

I gave up on it. I downloaded a copy of Kaza and got that to run. I still was not able to get it to run. It just closes down and leaves the screen blank. But, I am good with Kaza.
Thanks for asking. If it is this complicating to get it to run, it is not worth it for me to have. This was the first time I was downloading it. I didn't have any previous version on my computer. I am using XP with 128 RAM. I know it isn't my computer, probably just some little setting that has to be clicked on or off....

thanks anyways.

XP rhad mininum requirements as to the speed and ram capacity of your computer,
128 MB of ram for XP is insufficent.
XP needs at leasr 256MB and 512 is highly recommended.
I am guessein you upgraded the OS from 98SE oe ME. I see this alot.
Limewire is a memory hungry program.
See the problem ? XP and LW are fighting for thre same territory in your ram.
PLUS LW runs best on 1ghz computers or better.
Happy hunting.
