Playing DVD When I burn a DVD from the Burn List it doesn't play on my DVD player but it does play thru my computer. I've tried other players and other DVD brands. Any help would be appreciated. |
1. A dvd must be in UDF format for it to play reliably on set-top dvd players. 2. Burn at minimum speed to ensure it burns reliably & the player reader doesn't struggle with reading it. 3. If you're using a dvd-r or dvd-rw then you need to close the disk before using. However if you use dvd+r or +rw then you don't need to do this. 4. Check up on your brand & model of set-top player to ensure it is compatible with dvd-/+R disks. Some aren't & some are only compatible with their own brand writable disks (stinks huh!) And some only like some brands. 5. Make sure you have an empty AUDIO_TS folder sitting beside the VIDEO_TS folder. Some players require this. 6. Make sure you chose video dvd format within your burner program (do not choose data format.) This gets back to point 1 above. If your burner program has a UDF format selection option then choose that. But your video must have already been multiplexed before-hand to choose this option. Otherwise choose video dvd. |
Thanks a bunch for posting so quickly. Bear with me-I'm new at this. How do you know if dvd is in UDF format? How do you adjust the burn speed? I"m using the Sonic Record Now . Dell Windows XP) Thanks again. |
I'm aware of the softw but never tried it. I use a mac so the options of burning might be a little different between programs. You'd need to check your manual about how to change burn speed. As for UDF format, some burner programs can identify the format of a dvd. And some actually give you the option of choosing this format. There's a support forum here: 1. Here, & 2. and here , & 3. And again , & 4. And also here |
