to many 851.7 results

I know it is a virus, I will not download it, but why are there so many?
is there something wrong with my limewire that I am getting so many 851.7 sources?
Whay can I do to get rid of them, what is going on please tell me.

I think there is another one too around the 700+ size.

manually fixing 851.7 virus p2p

i had problem of limewire continually restarting after trying to close it, also the task manager would not open, unfortuantly no anti-virus software/spyware remover would fix it properly. As every time i removed it, the problem would arrise when restarting the computer.
i managed to manually remove it-
using a program 'Highjackthis 1.99.0.1' to access the taskmanager list once again, noticing the unusual backround program 'winupdates.exe' i ended the process. as the real update process for windows is'wdfmgr'.
then going to 'C:\Program Files' i also found the file winupdates, which was hidden, after deleting this the problem was gone.

note that the process must be ended before deleting the file.

this will not take in to account for all 851.7 based viruses as they will vary.

I posted earlier about the same subject. I know enough not to download these files since they're all infected - I just don't know how to keep them out of my search lists. It seems all I get in response to a search are these virulent 851.7kb files and few, if any, legitimate files.

Surely we're not the only ones encountering this problem. Does anyone have a solution?

I had the same. If there is a file p2pnetworking.exe in your processcreen (ctrl+alt+del) then look at this link. It's a big job to get it away. http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index...&hl=p2pnetwork

alot of people change their download directory, but please check the folder in

Quote:

c:\documents and settings\username\complete
at least ur not sharing them if u have changed directory BUT if u goto
Quote:

c:\documents and settings\username\
and not see "complete" folder type it in at the end of address bar
if every1 can do this the files will start to disapear

Virus's

What has happened to limewire. every file I search for no matter what size comes back with virus's of about 850kb. It has got to the point that I have stopped using limewire as searching is a waste of time. Anyone know what is causing this because it has me stumped??

Its not Limewire its the users sticking in viruses. Limewire is not responsible for any viruses you may get infected with. Stay clear of the pirated software, games and you wont get infected. Users are spreading the viruses/worms/trojans because Gnutella is an open network. Software makers/RIAA/etc. are sticking in their own for users to foolishly download. Have a good anti-virus protection program while using a P2P app and you'll be fine.

LimeWire have no control over Gnutella network. Gnetulla have no control over it network, but Gnutella can shut down its network.

p2p work different way. it like BitTorrent. P2P is Peer-to-Peer which it mean Computer-to-Computer. every data you download is from people computer.
