download problems, duh For those of you who don't understand the reason for slow downloads, go to limewires homepage and in the upper right corner there is a link that say's how many hosts are online. Click it. Study the graphs and then ponder for awhile. Can 10% of that base support the other 90%? Of course not. That is to say that 90% of the network is not contributing. Not accessible. (Leechers). Only about 10% at any given time are sharing. I even think that 90% is a conservative number. It's probably more. Thats the way I read the graphs. I think alot of people are choosing the wrong connection setting thinking they will get better performance and speed. That will not work. When I am downloading a file at 4KB and the host say's that it is a cable or T1 or T3, they are f*****g liars. My ISP is not throttling. I always get ultrapeer with around 25 to 30 peers and always have 4000 hosts. But like everyone else, I get sh*t speeds. Thats it in a nutshell. Steve |
Thans for pointing that out> The lower graph is particularly interesting. ... uploaders seem to have stayed nearly the same since Jan 2004. The downloaders have skyrocketed. I'll do some more pondering |
