Slow d/l on cable despite number of hosts

New computer, same Cable ISP, new problem. Whereas my old computer would d/l on LimeWire at 50+ KB/s without a problem, on my new computer I can't d/l faster than 1KB/s, regardless of how many hosts I'm downloading from. I have the same problem with similar programs, such as WinMX. I can d/l at high speed from IE. I'ver tried disabling my firewall, and LimeWire is set to Cable/DSL. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I can be contacted at Yahoo Messenger: newmodelno115 ~or~ AIM: New Model No 115 if you want to walk me through it, or leave a message here. Thanks.

Doesn't sound healthy if it's happening to more than one p2p sharing program. It sounds suspicious.

* Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

* Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Are you running more than one computer on this connection? Are you running more than one p2p program at the same time on any of these computers?

one firewall running (windows firewall, Norton firewall disabled) LW has full access

Result is true

Windows XP
Norton, Windows firewalls
512KB
59.7 out of 70.9GB available
Cable Modem
Arris Model No. CM450A
Connecting from home
LW: 4.9.11 Java:1.5.0_02
Cebridge Connections
one computer. Only run LimeWire. Had WinMX to test for similar problems. Had similar problems.

Well the True result is a healthy one!

The issue could be a modem or ISP filtering problem. Yes some isp's filter p2p sharing.

Go here & downld a magnet link & see what speeds you get: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml
To see an example of what speeds you can get from there see Stief’s example: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...692#post138692
