please help me =(

i downloaded limewire weeks ago on my computer and while teh songs downloaded super fast, all the songs were staticy throughout except for a few seconds where the sound was fine. i then uninstalled the program and decided to use ares. i had ares for awhile which was fine until that program basically went dead on me (it never let me connect!) so i uninstalled that. i just installed the new limewire and im still having the same problem i came across with it when i downloaded teh first limewire. i dont know what to do. :(

yeah thanks for the help you 2. i dont know where that arrow is leading to. the newest posts are in this topic and not helpful at all.

et voilą August 7th, 2005 03:06 PM

This is because you dl top40 songs that are infected by the RIAA. Songs with bitrates over 128kbps are always genuine. Next time, please post an informative title to the thread. We see that "help me" thingy many times a day and I usually don't even bother reading them :o

hotgirl69 August 7th, 2005 03:10 PM

no need to be mean :( i read the other large posts and none of them really addressed my problem. i downloaded a couple of the cure bsides and those songs arent considered top 40:confused:

if you get lousy sound it is no fault of Limewire's. The files are downloaded directly fom the host and what you get is what they are sharing.

A bit of experimentation with files from different hosts and with different bitrates will help you decide what sounds good to you.

What are you playing the songs on? If you are using Limewires player you can expect pretty dreadful sound at the best of times. iTunes or another good media player will give you infinitely better sound.

Also et voil is one of the most helpful contributors to the forums and he and others who try to be helpful get frustrated by the number of poorly headed threads, with little information to go on, not to mention the legions of the scammed (don't ask.... if you are icurious do a search!)

hi thanks for the response. im using limewire's player. i have itunes as well but im not sure exactly how to get the songs to play on there vs. limewire (will do a search here though). i think his response to me was a bit harsh for someone who is new but thats just me. i like to help people instead of giving people i hard time....

Well ok, maybe I overdid, but you'd understand helping here ;)

Thing is that most popular stuff is filled with static noise, those files are originally coming from RIAA organisation to discourage P2P and they are all at the 128kbps bitrate. If you want to play music in iTunes, just inactivate the LW media player in Options -> media player, uncheck then apply. Go in library and double click on songs, they should open your default music player which should normally be iTunes. Voilą.

Bonne chance

If I could suggest your username is perhaps ....er something that might get unusual attention...

as to the player, go to preferences/options>player and uncheck "use limewire mp3 player" The mp3s should then play through iTunes if that is the default mp3 player.

I use a Mac and we can select in the preferences to import directly into iTunes but I'm not sure if you can do that in Winsoze

This link should help

ah i see so rules of thumb:
1) never download anything that is 128 (never knew that!)
2) you want to download files that do not have the license thing

im actually not a hot girl nor do i 69:eek: :( :D . i just used the name because i figured someone would help out a sexually active hot girl. i was going to put a fake pic in my profile but didnt:D

i just downloaded a song that is 96 and got it to load at itunes and it works like a charm. thanks:)

hotgirl69 August 7th, 2005 06:24 PM

  what the hell? now the sound is completely gone from itunes. i guess its not related to limewire because even the songs i had then went from cd straight to itunes are completely having no sound.

i personally am attractive to the undiscovered beauties. ;)

btw, dont be discouraged about downloading 128kbps bitrate mp3's... just know that sometimes they are not what they appear. personally, i go for anything thats 128kbps or higher bitrate. and i do try to stay away from the variable bitrate mp3's (those can usually be found haveing the tilde "~" symbol before the bitrate number) these files can be ~128kbps one sec, and then goto ~80kbps the next.

which anything under 128kbps are generally not very good quality mp3's and i suggest always go with the higher bitrate (but stay away from variable bitrate unless you have to)..

ta ta for now.

Hi hotgirl69

Not sure but check your sound card settings, and make sure it isn't set to digital audio only.

for a little information on music quality and bit rates check this link out. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=music+quality

hi.
hi. no clue what that is. on the audio section of itunes my settings are at: crossfade playback (in the middle)
sound enhancer is off
sound check is on
look for remote speakers connected with airtunes is on (no clue what that means)
disable itunes vulme control for remote speakers is off

ive played around with the audio section and still no luck.

update: i figured out now how to get the sound to be alright on itunes. its not the best like it was before but its better than nothing. the weird thing is when i get an instant message from my friend on aim, his message is fricken loud.

Within iTunes, select the song & choose get info (or control+i) & you'll see in the Options section there is an ability to increase the volume. This is purely id3tag info & doesn't affect the file for burning, etc. It might also only apply to iTunes.

iTunes is a decent program to use especially since it has its own library. Many other players are simply reference players/playlist players. So if you delete or move the song the player won't be able to play it. Duh!

As for corrupt mp3's, another technique to discover them before you downld is here: T3 Spammers; mp3 Bit-Rates Versus File Sizes & the reason for these corrupt songs is here: Most Popular Songs R' Corrupt I don't think corrupt songs only applies to 128 kbps. It depends upon the source & noticeable if you compare the bit rate to the file size which indicates something is wrong. I've seen corrupt files at 320 kbps & lower.

It has been said there's mp3 fixes but these do NOT always fix these corrupt files. mp3 fixers: video-fixer http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...x&pagenumber=2 =&postid=108757#post108757 which also fixes mp3's & also MP3RepairTool : http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...upt+and+repair =&postid=114904#post114904
