Salut, you only have to limit upload speed 5-10KB/s below your capacity in Options -> Uploads -> Basic. Download speed and pings are affected when upload bandwidth is saturated. But do not lower to minimum the upload bandwidth, this would slow Gnutella since the network is fast only because of upload speeds.
