will somebody F-ing help me i have limewire pro and a highspeed broadband connection but it only goes like 20 kbs. plz help me! |
Well remember that ISP providers quote bandwidth in bps. LW shows speeds in KB/s bps = bits per second B/s = bytes per second 8 bits = 1 byte So 20 KB/s is roughly 160 kbps but there's also 13-20% overhead loss in speeds from what's quoted from isp's. I'm guessing you have a 256 kbps connection. Downld speeds depend upon the sources!!! do you know how i could make it go faster though? |
Well I have a 256 kbps connection but I can get up to 27 KB/s downld speeds combined with LW. So you're probably not too far off what you can potentially get. Whilst LW is closed, do a speed test like this one: http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/ban...eedtest50.html or this one http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/ See the following link & follow all the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) |
Speed Joe-e & Lord of the Rings I have a one meg ADSL link but my connection speed is only 576 kps, from that I get a download speed using LWPro from 1kps to 65 kps. However, at one time I got a speed burst for less than a second of 200+ kps. Simply put, just because you have high-speed broadband that does not mean you will get high speeds on all occasions. There are a limited number of things you can do to increase your broadband speed, such as following your ISP instructions on connection configurations, e.g. MTU settings, upgrading your modem’s software, make sure that all other internet applications are closed, e.g. email, browser, etc. You must also remember that your download speed is also dependant on how fast the client PCs you are connected to can upload and where in the world they reside, if their connections are slow your download speed will be slow. Hope this helps UK Bob |
