Default download speed of 1kb per file???

ok, i'm new to limewire, and i've tried a bunch of stuff... but i'm still havin problems. the fastest any download will possibly go for me is 3 kbps. and thats only if i have 1 file downloading. if there's 2, the most i'll get is 1 kbps on one and 2 kbps on the other. i know i have dialup (it's even slower than usual cause my dad wired up the phone lines wrong. the fastest i'll get is 28.8 kbps). even still i know i can get more than just 3 kbps!

Default Same problem

I've been having the same problem. Lately, it seems like the entire network has slowed down. I can't seem to download faster than 1 kb/s, and I have a cable/DSL connection and some of my hosts have T3. I've been trying to download a file for 4 days. I've kept my computer on 24/7 and I'm still only at 6 percent. If anyone knows what the problem is or if the network has adjusted or changed, please help!

Make sure you download from the right hosts. Your dial-up speed will be slow, so be sure to click on hosts that have a T3 connection. They are the fastest. Modems are very slow, cable/DSL is kind of slow, T1 is fast, and T3 is fastest. Once you use Limewire for a little while, you'll be a pro at it.

Default This worked for me

i am on dsl windoze 2000, 1.7ghz.
my download speed sudenly fell to 0 or 1 kb p sec, i went to tools/options/advanced/firewall config and changed listen on port 6346 to port 80. then repeated all the searches i had running and the speed went back up to what it was before.
now i dont know why it worked, does it have anything to do with isp choking p2p traffic?

Default Didn't work for me

It didn't work for me. I'm still at the same speed. Maybe it was a coincidence that it worked for you.
