Problems with new version of limewire

Having a lot of the same problems with the new version that everyone else is having. Im wondering, is there any way that you can re download the 4.8.1 version to replace the new one? The old version worked great for me and I would love to have it back if it is possible.

From what I've been told, no you can't re-download the old version from LimeWire. Now if you had a copy of 4.8.1 saved in another part of your harddrive then yes you could. I have three backup copies of some of the older versions that I keep just in case I have problems with the .28. Although the newest version hasn't given me any problems so far.:)

I tried using system restore to go back before I updated Limewire, but then when I would try to run it kept saying there was a fatal error and had to shutdown.

If you are lucky then it is right "under your nose". Remember I don't recomand you to go back to 4.8.1 version 'cose it's slowing the network !!!

Here is where you can fin it...
1. Go on your comp. in this folder C:\Program Files\LimeWire\.NetworkShare\ and see if it's there.

2. Search for the keyword "LimeWire" (yes with your LW, and download it)

3. Post a reply so I know if it worked !!! (by doing this you can help other people having the same problemes !!! )

I'm from Canada and I usually open up LimeWire around 9:30am Eastern Time on Monday through Friday. I have the version 4.9.7 and I'll put it in my files so you can download it.:)

Click on the Programs button and type in LimeWireWin4.9.7

I think the problem here is these people are not able to get LimeWire working therefore unable to download it from the network. For those of you who can not get LimeWire to work and download a earlier version of LimeWire go to the link below and download WinMx once you get on the net you can search for the Version of LimeWire you want. I do not know that you will be able to find it on the WinMx but you can give it a try. I am not recommending WinMX it is not a very good program but it is the only other P2P program I trust to be spyware free. And free to the user.

If you can not find LimeWire on the above network then you can try BareShare. Be warned the free version of BearShare is full of SPYWARE. But you should be able to find earlier versions of LimeWire on there since it is the same network. Be careful of the versions of LimeWire you download LimeWire is open source and anybody can add spyware, Viruses, or anything else that a hacker wants to put in it. I do not recommend either of these solutions. If it was me I would just wait until the developers fix the bugs. Good Luck

lol. gee and I got yelled for asking for an older version back when I first joined here. Not so strange of a request now is it? Never part with a working install. and never download a new release until its been out for a while.

Latest LW Pro seems flaky

CyberStalker & Grandpa

I must admit that of all the officially released PC versions of LW Pro I have used this latest version (4.9.28) seems unpredictable and flaky.

The previous versions of LW Pro were rock solid in their stability, I knew what I was going to get every time I ran it, i.e. good performance, no problems working with my firewall or PG2, no internet error pop-ups with options that can’t be used.

However, with 4.9.28, I feel that I am taking part in a lottery, i.e. I am never sure how it will behave and what I will get, if anything.

To tell you the truth, I am very surprised that the LW org has actually used 4.9.28 as an official released simply because it feels like something that is unfinished, i.e. an early to middling beta release.
