Complete LW virgin needs help
 

Hi my name is sarah and i am only few hours into my lw pro and i already experiencing whole load of trouble..

i have searched forums for advice on media player problems with avi's and have taken onboard advice about codecs etc (already way over my head!)

My major beef is i decided to download three so called movies - c***e and ch***ry, the i***d and w***ds...one was a porno, the other two were not what they were listed as but not pornos at least...if i wanted to download crap pornos with guys eith small co*ks i would of gone somewhere else..

have i paid 20 bucks for porn or is there any way of guaranteeing what i download is what its meant to be..

i heard such good things from friends about lw that i decided to have look for myself, but as with all things online they never are as easy as they appear..

if anyone can help me i would very much appreciate it, i am a huge novice when it comes to p2p and if anyone could make my downloading simpler then thank you..i not even sure i posted this to right category but please forgive me..

Well you searched thru the forums & didn't even look at the forum rules huh! No you didn't post in the appropriate section. The LimeWire sections are found here: Limewire Forum sections Tips & Tricks is a general section not specific to any particular gnutella program & this forum caters for many gnutella network programs. I sort of sense a certain amount of dishonesty in your post. LW offers 2 versions, one is called Basic & is free & people are expected to try it out before buying pro.

Or better to know for sure, go to LW's menu bar, Help>About Limewire & see whether is says LW pro or not (see sample image below.)

LW's media player is only intended for audio files not videos.

I would just like to add a few points that may help you when trying to download:

1) The P2P network consists of thousands of individually owned PCs, just like the ones you and I own. There is no central server that you can download from and no central authority that controls these PCs. Therefore, you are at the mercy of whatever P2P clients are willing to share.

2) You have various filters within LW, used them as they can help to keep out unwanted downloads.

3) Ensure the safety of your PC by using protective software, e.g. anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware, etc.

4) As a general rule, stay away from exe, zip or any other file that is capable of running.

Finally, P2P-ing can be enormous fun once you get the hang of it.
