I have not updated to .30, which seems to be where the Individually shared folder began it's life. It is mentioned in the new User guide and this is what it says.
--------------
""""The Shared Files folder is located in the folder list at left. Click on Shared Files to show all folders currently being shared. To set your Sharing Options, go to Tools > Options > Sharing.

Please note that by default, Saved Files are included in Shared Files. To add a folder to the list of Shared Files, right-click on a folder and select "Share New Folder" from the right-click menu. To stop sharing an individual file in a shared folder, right-click on that file, and select "Stop Sharing File."

The Individually Shared Files folder shows files shared independent of the folder they are in. To share a file individually, right-click a folder, then select "Share New File." The file will be added to the Individually Shared Files list. Please note that this folder is visible only if you have individually shared files.

The Saved Files folder shows files downloaded from the network. By default, all files are stored in the same directory. To display a specific type of file, select Audio, Video, Documents, Programs, or Images under Saved Files. To specify a download location for each media type, go to Tools > Options > Saving. For a list of extensions associated with each file type, please see the Options section of this user guide.""""

-----------------------------

I have read this a couple of times, and really can't make out what it is all about, but perhaps it will make sense to you, as you have the thing in front of you!

If you or anyone can answer the question accurately please do so!

I think there is a fly in the ointment. My wife's computer was just sitting there doing nothing so I downloaded .30 and was downloading there while doing QA work on files on my own machine (4.9.23.1 pro).

I never share newly downloaded files until I have QA'd them and I set up .30 to operate the same way. Much to my surprise, when I checked the upload status, there were songs being uploaded that I had just downloaded. Thats when I discovered this "individually shared" folder. Lo and behold, there were ALL the songs I had just downloaded and they were being shared without any action on my part.

This sort of nullifyies the efforts of many in this forum who advocate not sharing corrupt files. Believe me, the months of Aug and Sept have been rampant with trash, ie., wrong song, wrong title, wrong artist or both. I had close to 100 songs that I was QAing to put in my shared folders and probably 20 of them were in the above mentioned category.

Thanks for explaining that. A little while back there was a thread in which develpers were justifying sharing partial downloads as well as recently downloaded files as making the network run smoother and quicker. I feel, with you, that it is better not to return files to the network without checking they are OK first.

HOBO your first post about this "individually shared" folder had excerpts of the .30 manual which mentioned the use of the right click to do "things" By the way the icon is not a folder but maybe two sheets of TP paper. Anyway, right clicking on the TP it's self only gave options for adds. Anything useful was greyed out.

I don't recall trying to right click on individually listed files but had that worked to delete them from being shared it would be a continuous annoyance switching back and forth everytime a download was successful.

I explored options but did not find any reference (or preference) for TP features.

I'll stick with what I have until this is resolved because GIGO is not helping anyone. I tried for months to download one particular (old time) song and it was always without sound and, it wasn't from T3 providers either. I finally got a good copy and inserted the words (with sound) in the title. For the first few weeks I was afraid downloaders were going to suck the innards from my machine. Must have been lots of them had similiar experiences trying to get this file.
