Download problem

I have recently installed Limewire basic, and I have tried to search for music, and I've found nothing. I've looked under "whats new". I found nothing. I have looked up popular celeb photos (Pamela Anderson, Holly Berry, Britney Spears, etc...) I got nothing!!! I have my firewire set to UPnP, so that shouldn't be a problem right? Anyone have any suggests?

Thats impossible. are you using the audio category when you search? How are you typing it in? If searching for MP3, I usually just type in: artist, then the title in the search box under audio. Where did you get basic from? and, check the licence thingy to make sure you got that set properly. are you able to download at all?

No matches

I got it basic from limwire.com. No, I'm not able to download anything. I've tried pictures, music, software, etc... NOTHING. I've even tried the whats new on limewire option in music. NOTHING!!! I just noticed that out of 5 bars on the connection meter on the bottom, I have only one bar. Does that have anything to do with my problems? Anyway, I'm gonna un-install and reinstall today. Lets see if anything changes. I'll keep you posted.

You probably have a firewall of somesort. But I really have no idea. You could try downloading another program like Ares and seeing if it works either?

Yes, that means you are not connected to Limewire or the internet. Check your connection. Thats why nothing's showing up in the searches, because you're not connected properly.

problem solved

Hey Guys, I forgot to post the answer to my problem. I Opened Norton Internet security, chose personal firewall, clicked configure, then chose prgrams under headings. Then, I scrolled down to all limewire programs and noticed that there was an option to permit or block. It was blocked. So, I permited all for the limewire stuff, and everything was fine. You may have to restart, but I didn't. Good luck.

It's important to configure your firewalls. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

For Norton: Configuring Norton Internet Security

Once you get connected, you should be aware of this: License requirement (click on link)

But in the meantime if you still can't connect after setting your firewall:

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
4. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
5. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
6. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
7. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
8. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
9. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
