Uploading

I know this sound stupid but, How dod you upload? I put the files in my shared files then went to search for them to make sure it worked and they weren't there. See I want to basically move a file to another computer. I have a movie I want to put onto Limewire at one house, then go to my other house on a diffrent computer and download it. Can someone help me do this?
