Incomplete files

hi! im new to Limewire. and im just using it for just a week. pardon me if i may be stupid with this inquiry.

i recently discovered that i have this "Incomplete" folder. this folder as i observed contained all the files i tried to download as in ALL, even the ones i cancelled and decided not to download anymore.

now, the problem is that this folder is using too much space of my hard drive. its about 8GB! i wanted to erase all those files in the folder. i cannot continue what i want to do because of these questions :

1. what happens when i erase all files (except the .dat and .dat files)? will i lose status of all the files i'm currently downloading?

2. how would i know that i'm deleting the correct file and not the one i'm donwloading? (im confused because all the files in the folder are prefixed with "T-some number-filename)

3. why not all files i'm currently downloading are in the incomplete folder?where's the partially donwloaded file?

i think that's for now...thanks for the help!:D

I believe you can delete those files coloured in red within the incomplete folder. The ones in red will be ones you cancelled in a previous session or for some reason lost their relationship with the original downld file in the downld window. Sometimes this happens when another source is found to downld from. I don't know why this happens but it can happen & you may find you've already downlded that file. eg: You might have downlded a file called micky.mp3. But in your incomplete folder you might find micky(1).mp3, micky(2).mp3 for example.

One of the biggest space killers are Preview files. If you have any, delete them. They will look like "PREVIEW-my movie.avi" for example.

You can also check this advice: Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! BTW doing this will help speed up LW's overall performance (won't be as sluggish.) And will start up & settle down much faster.
