Question Problems sharing big files!

hey everyone, ive got a friend trying to share a fairly big file.. 2.6 gigs.. i use direct connect and it works fine with any other movies or episodes of shows.. but with this 2.6 gigs file (rar file) it doesnt show up as shared and when she go's to add it to the shared thing manually it says it cant be shared.. its weird.. is it too big? or file extension bad? she added the .rar to the file extension file thing but it still doesnt work and also just added it to a shared folder yet it still doesnt come up.. we are both using limewire pro.. so we need help, thanks peoples!

Over a year ago I think I remember reading there was a file size limit but I don't know if that still applies. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Sharing & make sure .rar is on the allowable extensions share list. If not, add it. Oh I missed the comment she has already done that. Make sure she pressed apply afterwords. Also make sure it's not being filtered out by keyword filters, though I doubt that's the issue or would apply.

Also, after adding something new to share, press the Refresh button in the Library window as this forces LW to reaccount for all shared files & updates the list.

BTW I'm just trying the same thing with 3.9 GB of video files into a SIT archive. Give me some mins.

As of now, nobody can share files over 2 gigs on Gnutella as per protocol limitations. There is an extension to the protocol that has been proposed and adopted over the GDF to work around the 2GB limit, but AFAIK LimeWire has yet to include the proposal in the current versions.

Hehe, suggest it in feature requests!

Ciao
