Limewire Search Returns Falsely Named Files In nearly all my searches for songs I get at least one "result" where the file length is 134.4 kb. To prove the point I searched for "Check this rubbish" and sure enough, I got a result - Check this rubbish, which was 134.4 kb. I also usually get an Exe file of 15.5 kb of whatever file name I'm searching for, and a JPG file of 85.3 kb. I have a search going at the moment and have right clicked the 15.5 Exe file and checked it with Bitzi and this shows it is in fact a Simpsons file !! The others, from memory, are advertising blurbs. Is some idiot "taking" my search queery and somehow changing the name of these "false" files each time so that they match my search queery ? Needless to say, I now look very carefully at my search results and ignore the 134.4, 85.3 and 15.5 kb results, but is there any way I can stop them showing up - apart from tracking down the idiot that is doing this and re-arranging his computer !! |
anything that you dont feel right is a virus. mostly they tend to be in a small file. |
they're either spam or viruses. Weird results from searches WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! |
