Search their topics again to continue them downlding. One thing you can do is right-click the file & choose a different location to downld to which can be your external drive. See example image below.

Another one is a little more involved. That means permanently moving the downld folder to the external drive. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Saving & change the location. You will have a new incomplete folder at the new location also.

You can also select particular types of files to save to the external instead of the entire downloads. Obviously the ones that take up the most space. You have the choice between Documents, Music, Video & Programs. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Saving & click on one of the file types & press browse button & you can select another location to save it such as your external drive. See sample below.
(If you do choose separate locations for types of downlds, then you'll need to select those specific sub-folders when Using Library Explore button to access downld folder, instead of choosing the Saved Files folder.)

1st you need a dvd burner. 2nd you need a burner program. Recommended is Nero 6 or 7, or Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator. These will do any necessary conversion. You also need a blank dvd-/+r depending upon what your burner can use & what your set-top player can play.

You'll find your downlds here: C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared
An easy & quick way to get there is: Go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link)

Open your burner program, select video & dvd output. Add the file. Select the burn speed (slower is better.) Press burn or record button & the program will do the rest. Oh ... but you can add menu options if you choose to so read the burner manual about how to do that before you burn the disk.
