Trying to rename file deletes it Hello...this is my first time in the forum, so not sure if i'm in the right area. Just d/l LW 9.4.37 Pro yesterday and having some problems now. I usually put my files in alphabetically order, but now when I try to rename a file in my library, it turns "red" and the size reads "0"...nothing there to play. Also when I select "Library", those little yellow circles on the left of the file name takes forever to go down the whole list which never happened before. Everything seems slow and most of the newly d/l songs abort. Can someone please help?.... ...Thanks! |
LW needs to refresh it's database records, so press the Refresh button in the LW Library window & this will update the changes you made. You can't play the file because LW media player can't find a file by that name. After doing the above, it will be fine. |
Hi...I did do the refresh thing several times yesterday. However, today it seems faster, but now when I rename a file, it stills turns red and goes to "0", but does also create a new renamed file which plays fine, but it won't allow me to delete the original (now red and 0) file. Also overnight all my options were changed and when i checked Monitor, I have a bunch of uploaded files saying "Transfer Interrupted" and others saying "completed" when they were only partially completed. I pressed the "clear inactive" button and all disappeared but the "uploading" files. I don't want to ruin anyone's uploads from me, but the "completes" don't disappear as they used to and really build up. LW worked great until I upgraded. Any advice as to what's wrong with this new upgrade and is there anything I might do to solve these little cliches on my end? P.S. ! Forgot to say I'm using XP and Cable/DSL.....thanks! |
Transfer interupted for uplds is probably due to you changing the name of the files ... which is in a sense changing the hash tree of the file for those trying to upld them. It'll be fine for new uplders, but for the ones who were uplding before you made the changes, it means that their hash tree won't agree with the hash tree they initially downlded & thus "if" they should complete the downld they may get a corrupt message. However if there's more than one source with the same file then they'll probably just continue with them but not from you. If refresh doesn't do the trick then relaunching LW probably will for playback. I can't speak for the other issues you have. I suspect LW 4.9.37 does have some bugs. We haven't heard much from the LW proggies for a while so I don't know exactly know what's happening at this moment. |
I can see by reading others' input that I'm not the only one with problems with the new upgrade. Thanks for your help, Lord of the Rings...I've read a lot of your replies to others and I've learned a good bit from them. This forum is really helpful...wished I'd joined sooner! |
