T3 Results Only Does anyone know why every song on a particular album returns T3 results ONLY. All of these results arrive within 5 seconds and the search is over, unlike normal searching which lasts for more than 30 seconds. I don't have a virus or any spyware, as I have ran my AVG, Adaware and Microsoft AntiSpyware. Thankyou for any help. |
Beware of T3s Higher because those are generally the fake hosts that generate the viruses/trojans. as a rule, I generally stay away from them and dl off a fellow cable user. |
Try changing up your search keywords. Instead of searching for the album try the artist name or try the song titles ect. Mix it up to get better results. Also check the file sizes, stay away from anything less than 1MB. |
Thankyou both for your advice. I sure don't download from T3s any more since reading comments in this forum a few weeks ago. I am keen to get the songs from this album, and don't type the album name in, just the song names but still get only T3s for every song! I will just have to give up on this one... it just seems strange though. |
What are the file types? If the T3 are all .wma, you could try filtering out that type then do a search. In LW Tools>Options>Filters>Keywords then add the extension then apply. You can always remove it later. Can't think of anything else. Edit: You could block the T3 hosts 1-by-1 and then try the search. |
Searching to get a particular file is like brainstorming. As you are best to vary your search as much as possible. Search for just the album under Any Type search. Search just the artists name. Search titles from the album. Everytime you see a result that has titles from that album, then browse them. Another alternative is to try for albumwraps. But that's only if people are sharing albumwraps of that particular artist or album. In that case, search for albw, album, albumwrap, total, complete, at the end of the name. eg: beebles - albw or beebles best hits - albw/complete/album, etc. How to Downld whole albums & Albumwrap As hinted above, perhaps nobody is sharing that album or songs from that album, or they're not online at moment. Perhaps the only person(s) sharing it are weekend users or just occasional users of gnutella network sharing. BTW not all T3's are bad (contracted by the RIAA.) |
Thankyou for your reply, Lord of the Rings... this is a reply to 6_pac, and now I will go and follow your advice. The file types are all mp3. Typical search for any song from that artist was over in 5 seconds and got 202 results. There was one T1 and the rest were T3. Every one of them had #s ranging 2 - 8. A variety of sizes between 4 mb and 10. Thanks for the keyword idea though, for other songs... I added wma, w4a and mid to the Ignore list, but a new one has turned up... ogg (only once though). |
If I were you keep the AV going and AV scan each file you download if off the T3 or Higher, some are ok, you can usually tell if its a fake host easy enough. I only download MP3 files as they are usually, virus free. unless its been generated by a trojan and wrongly named and are under a meg. |
Here's a silly question. Under Tools->Options->Searching->Speed is 'Show Only Results of T1 speed or higher' selected? |
here's an obvious question for ya, do you guys check what prefs you wish to except hosts/speeds from in tools/options? I have mine set to accept all connections including T3's I dont limit my searches that way. ;) if you got it set so it shows all T3's, then, thats all it wil show in the search results, not sure if Im explaining it right or not. but you can adjust that in your settings. |
