partially downloaded file shows its fully downloaded so cannot resume downloading
 

hi,

i've partially downloaded a file (more than 60%) on another computer...and have moved this incomplete file to the incomplete file on my computer now. but because everytime i download a file it shows in the folder that the file is fully downloaded as in not 180mb of a 300mb file but 300mb of a 300mb file, i cannot resume the download as it says its already all downloaded.

please help! thank u very much

If you move an incomplete file from one comp to another, you need to also move the downld.dat & bak files with it (also found in the incomplete folder.) Else LW on the 2nd computer won't have any record of it. BTW even if a LW file search shows a green tick next to the filename, you can still redownld it. But it generally only shows the green tick if the previously downlded file is still in the downld folder. It sounds to me like you put the incomplete file in the downld folder & not the incomplete folder.

LW normally won't show the green tick unless it has previously 100% downlded that file. And the file will be 100% identical in contents (filename might have some variation but contents will be the same.)

i looked back at the 1st comp and cant find the backup and data files in the incomplete folder...do they get deleted when i moved the file?

If you opened LW on the old computer after you removed those incomplete files ... hmm not sure ... might have mucked up the prefs. The files won't show on the old computer LW if they've been removed. If you're simply moving the incompletes from one computer to the other, then you should move the entire folder normally.

But within the incomplete folder is always 2 files called download.dat & download.bak
Those files are your downld preferences & keep track of % downlded.

I'm having sorta' the same problem to,
I have my download.bak file in my Incomplete folder and well I accidentally canceled a download and I went to go restart it and it's not in my incomplete folder on the lime-wire library. I thought ok, I'll just re-download it.
Searched, and it's not listed..
Can anybody help me here, I have no clue what's going on:shoot:
