download speeds need help
 

i need help, when i download songs they are in mp3 format but they download so slow and i am using a cable/dsl connection . when in the search window for limewire it has a icon infront of the song that looks like a windows media file icon. whats wrong?

Ummm you don't say what speed you are getting. It is likely to be slower than a file downloaded with your browser. It also depends on the actual speed of the host you are downloading from. (not necassarily what it says in the search window)

There is a column in the search window for type. If you can't see it right click on the title bar and tick Type on the menu. This will tell you what the files are. I suspect the icons Might show up wrong sometimes.. I get a blank icon for wma

Also note that mp3s are far more common than wma and if you are wanting wma files only (I'm not quite sure from your post) perhaps you should think about getting mp3s instead.

I think the icon shows whatever media player you have set for that file on you pc. So if you have windows media player sat as the default player it will show a wmp icon.
