I'm downloading other peoples music!!?

Hey! Im new to limewire, so any advice will be really appreiciated. Apparently I am a "leaf node shielded by an ultrapeer" and I cannot download any music I want to... other music I havnt selected is downloading! :( I think its another users music downloading from my connection? Im so silly! but can someone please tell me how to stop it from preventing me from downloading?

er which window are you talking about? The Monitor windows has at the top, shows incoming searches, at the bottom shows if anybody is uploading files from you.

The Search results are on the main window & below that is the downld window.

The message you received simply means that you are in leaf mode like 95% of other users & are being shielded from too much unnecessary search traffic by an ultrapeer who you're connected thru.

Tips:
1. LW User Guide: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/userguide.shtml

2. Be aware of this License requirement (click on link) & make sure you make appropriate settings so it doesn't bother you.

3. See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link)

hey thanks for your advice lordoftherings... In the monitor panel, the songs that I have chosen to download do not show, but different songs that I know Im not sharing because I don’t have them, are downloading. When I click on ‘show incoming searches’ there are a list of songs that ive never heard of or seen before? None of my requested downloads are actually loading. does my computer have a virus :(?

Your Looking in the Wrong Box

Jo,

You aren't looking in the right box. At the Top of the LimeWire console (under file, view, navigation...) you see most likely 3 tabs to select. Search, Monitor, and Library.

You must be looking in the Monitor Tab, and have 'Show Incoming Searches' check marked. The listing directly below that are search terms that other users are searching for. I'm not totally sure, but I think whats happening in the network sends those terms to your computer and sees if it matches any in your Library. If you’re connected as an Ultrapeer these will fly by so fast you could hardly read them. As a peer connection, you get that Notice after you mark the check box saying, "Leaf node shielded by an ultrapeer..." Nothing to worry about just the way the Program works.
The songs on the bottom of the same screen, under the separating bar are songs that you have in your library that others are attempting to UPLOAD from your computer to theirs. NOT the Files you are trying to DOWNLOAD from the network.

SO.... When you type in your search terms, in the Search tab, the files listed there are the files that you can choose from to DownLoad to your Computer.... Just don’t change tabs when you search... Just stay in the window you typed your search in. There really is nothing in the others you truly NEED to know, its only background stuff that isn’t necessary to find music.

To see the items you are downloading, you must select the "Search" tab on the Console. At the bottom of the window where the search results are displayed, another window will open automagically, showing the items you are downloading. This may take a few seconds if you have a slower computer.
