`Firewall` Help Needed! Hey, guys! I`m a computing retard so please be kind. Query: At random points during downloads (specifically with video downloads) I get a pop-up message telling me that I can`t receive the file because either I have no connection to the internet (which is not the case), or a `firewall` is blocking me and denying me access. I`ve heard of the term `firewall` before but still am not sure entirely what it is. Anway, how can I disable these in order to get files? It keeps happening. And during nearly all of my downloads I see an animated brick wall surrounded by fire indicating what I assume to be a firewall blocking that download. Any help would be much appreciated. And sorry if I have no idea what I`m talking about or this have been covered a million times. I checked the FAQ`s but no dice. Cheers! |
Hi fiend have you looked via the Stickys ? here is one someone else asked might help.. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...rewall+problem |
TenaciousMe, Have you configured your firewall to allow LW access?? http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml * Make sure you're not running 2 firewalls, they'll interfere with each other;) |
yea......same thing is happening to me except i have no firewall at all and it says i am not fully connected to the network...whats up with that? i download at 0kbps...wtf |
Nothing Works I linked to the Firewall info. and then tried the LimeWire Advanced settings to configure the Firewall settings. It won`t let me. There is a little gray flag icon beside the link. I don`t know what that means. Adding to the confusion is the fact that I`m using Windows ME, not XP, which nobody seems to produce troubleshooting solutions for. This, coupled with the fact that I`m in Tokyo using a JAPANESE version of ME, is making me quite insane. Downloads are taking forver. I have a high speed connection. What gives? Can anyone help? |
You need help from the gurus;) You could try using search (top right, between faq and home). This'll let you look at old threads. Try to make your search as specific as possible. You might find a few things that help... Good luck! |
