resuming unfinished downloads...

resuming unfinished downloads from 0% and not from 86% where they left off is not fun.....what is the problem with LW, i thought it would pause or save some knda dat file to do this properly, i want to resume from 86% i copied the incomplete files both upwards of 700mb large but that didnt work they start from 0kb again can anyone help much appreciated, sk_636@hotmail.com

The incomplete folder contains a .bak and a .dat file and if these files are damaged in anyway the incomlete files may not resume. Damage can occur if there is a system crash or Limewire is closed incorrectly. Also if the folder is moved or the files are moved it is likely to cause problems. Occasionally installing an update can cause problems (although it should not).

I'm not sure what you mean by " i copied the incomplete files both upwards of 700mb large but that didnt work they start from 0kb" and wonder if this might be a cause of the problem????

It is worth checking that your "days to keep incomplete files" in options is set to well over the 7 day default setting 100, 365 or 999 days for instance:) although I don't think this is your problem.

please let us know if this makes sense.

btw please do not post E-mail addresses on the forums... It will get you lots of spam and little else:)

you can do this my making a copy of the downloads.bak file and renaming it downloads.dat before you exit from LW, next timeyou start LW your donwloads will be in the state you left them in

Hi dudes

I'm having the same trouble and seriously need help. I went to copy the bak file, paste it and rename it dat but there is already a dat file and won't let me have a file with the same name. I'm gutted as I'm going to have to switch off later but my downloads wont be finished. I don't want to have to start all over again, AGAIN.
