burning dvd's I have Windows XP Media Center with 2 DVD burners (Phillips DVDRW228 and Lite-On DVDRW SHW-1635S). The software that I have is Nero OEM 6.6.0.15 version. I have downloaded the DivX Codec, but am having problems downloading the DivX Player. I get an error message "The ordinal 422 could not be located in the dynamic link library PX.dll". What does this mean? I've tried using my Nero program to burn the DVD movie (Dvdrip, avi. file) and get an error message "no compatible file found" when I try to add the file to the Nero Express - Burn DVD -Video Files menu. I went to the Nero website to check out the Nero 7.0 software and wanted to download the trial version first to see if it would work, but it tells me that I have to uninstall my version of Nero before it will download. I'm not sure if I really want to do that as this was on my computer when I purchased it and I don't think I have the cd to reinstall it if I need to. I have checked my movie that I wanted to burn and it is a good copy. This is my first attempt at burning a DVD, so I'm not sure what I'm exactly doing. Please help. If you need further information in order to help me, just let me know. Thanks, Tobydo :) :) :) |

i,m not of any use at all but.. sorry this is abit of a cheek but i read your post about problems burning a dvd for first time. I was hoping you might be able to have a wee snatch at my post regarding burning a cd. Its my first doing that (i'm not at the dvd stage yet). Hope you get the help you need, its a bummer when you get stuck like this and dont know why.;) |
Hello ronin4, Firstly what burning software do you have and we can go from there....;) |
Please Help Me Someone please respond to my message. I don't know what else to do. I've contacted the support at dvdSanta, but I have gotten two failure notices that my emails did not reach them. Here was my help message I posted previously: When I try to install the DivX Play Bundle Download, parts of it seems to download. I still get the error "The ordinal 422 could not be located in the dynamic link library PX.dll." I have installed the downloads, Microsoft Direct X 9.0c End-User Runtime, Microsoft Media 9, and Xvid-Dec.exe from the dvdSanta.com website. This error comes from the Divx codec downloadDirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime . Why am I getting this error? I just also purchased the dvdSanta and cannot get this to work. When I go into Video files to select the video I am wanting to burn from my saved files and click on the video, part of the screen goes blank and when I exit out of dvdSanta, it tells me program is not responding. I was just notified that Lord of the Rings responded to this message, but I do not see it. Please reply again. Thanks, Tobydo |

Toby boy, I dont quite understand what you have tried to download....How did you go about getting dvdsanta???? |
dvdSanta I found out about dvdSanta in the forums. I went to www.dvdSanta.com. I am, however, still having problems using dvdSanta. I have tried emailing the contact us and also the comments section to inform them of my problem and I get a failure notice where my emails are not going through. I have already paid for this download and even bought a lifetime upgrade. I am getting ready to write this company and demand my money back. If anyone else knows of something I may need to do to get dvdSanta to work, please let me know. I do have the most current version installed. Thanks, Tobydo |
Hey Tobydo, what is it exactley doing????? |
dvdSanta It seems now that the dvdSanta may be working - it's not freezing up now. I'm still confused on exactly how I need to burn the dvd I downloaded off of limewire (.avi file) I have read so much now, I'm not sure if I need to rip it first, decrypt it, etc., I have downloaded all the programs that have been suggested, so I think I've got everything I could possibly need. I had the trial version of Nero 7, but it has not expired, so I am relying on dvdSanta instead. This movie is the full version and I have played it on my computer using Windows Media Player. What steps do I need to take now to get this movie burned to a blank dvd. I know this can't be this hard, but I am so lost now. Someone please help me out. I really would like to start burning movies. Thank you to whoever replies to this message and helps me. I'm desperate!!!! Thanks again, Tobydo |
Hey Tobydo, I'll go through this in steps...... 1.open the video files to dvd 2.open add media 3.now you should have a window to your shared files 4.ok now select your file and open 5.Then select create dvd Thats all there is to it just remember to select either PAL or NTSC depending what your dvd player excepts... This process is converting the file for you and after that you will then have the option to burn to disk, just remember when you are burning your disk, its best to do it at a slower speed for better results.... Also if you have files eg. part1, part2, and even part3 open them one after the other(step 4)....dvdsanta automatically will join all files together in the converting process..... Good luck and enjoy your dvd....;) |
Now dvdSanta on the blink again When I got your reply, wondering why, I was so anxious to get started. I appreciate you giving me step-by-step instructions on how to burn a dvd with dvdSanta. In my previous reply, I told you that I thought dvdSanta was working. Last night, I was playing around with it and it seemed to be working because I actually did the steps you explained all except create dvd. That's where I didn't know if I was to shrink, decrypt the movie before I actually burned it. I am now trying to burn the movie to dvd. I follows your steps precisely and once I click the movie to add to media, the screen freezes up. The Add Media button disappears and none of the other buttons work when you try to click on them. If I bring up my Task Manager, it tells me the program is not responding. If I try to Exit out of the program from the dvdSanta screen, a windows pops up telling me to End Task because program is not responding. I have tried to uninstall the program and go back into the link dvdSanta gave me to install the program on my computer and reinstall it. It still does the same thing. I don't understand why it felt like working last night and now it doesn't. Last night was the first time it did act like it was working. Do you have a clue as to why it might be acting like this. I hate having to keep asking you questions, but I do really appreciate your advice and help. You seem to know what you are talking about and I can't get an email to dvdSanta contact link. Thanks so much, Tobydo |
Describe the problem in the email, find the file c:\dvdlog.txt and c:\graph.txt and send them to support@dvdsanta.com. It will help us locate the problem and send you a solution quicker. And don't forget to tell us what brand and model your DVD player is. Are you sending your email to this address??? Have you got the system requirements???? Microsoft Windows 2000/XP with DirectX 8.0 or higher. Pentium Processor or better, Pentium 4 recommended. 128MB RAM or more, 512MB RAM is recommended. 3MB Hard disk space for install. 5GB of Hard Disk Space for Media Files Windows Media Player 9 DVD Burner The only other thing is have you tried more than just the one file, if not, the file you have could be corrupt, thats the only time I have run into any problems.... I'll check a few more things out and get back to you...;) |
download dvd's I thought I just downloaded my first .avi file on a dvd, but i was sadly mistaken. I have dvdSanta program to burn dvd's. It looked like it went through the burning process and when I put it in my dvd player, it started playing, but i only got maybe 1/4 of the movie and nothing else. I thought by using dvdSanta, it would take care of ripping, decrypting, etc all in one step. All I had to do was burn the movie and I would be good to go. Did I miss a step or what? Anyone who could help me, it sure would be appreciated. Thank you, Tobydo: |
Thank You I just wanted you to know that I have successfully completed downloading and burning my very first DVD. I couldn't have done it without all of your help and valuable information. This is a great forum. Keep up the good work!! Thanks again, Tobydo |
Yaaaay, thats excellent ;) Also use the Bitzi web lookup, it will tell you if the file is any good or not....Its not always something you do wrong as sometimes the files are no good.... This thread will explain how to use it... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=37676 |
Just be aware that as Nero only allows one copy of itself on your box, your OEM Nero is useless, you have two different brands of DVD burner, the OEM Nero will only operate the burner the software came with. I gave them an earful last year because of this issue, I had a pioneer Burner, and a liteon burner, both with OEM version of Nero, but could only install one, so no matter which one I installed, the other burner could not be used. There answer - buy a third full copy of Nero (the price of the first 2 was obviously built into the price of the burners, but no discount offered). Bums! I cant tell you how I fixed my problem, it is not allowed to be discussed on the forum! :D |
