Slow Speeds

Hi, I was wondering what kind of speed I should be getting if I am using a 512kbs connection. My download is at 4kps at the minute which is very slow and it does hit 20kbs for a few minutes and then it goes back down again too around 4-5. Any help or advice would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks. ;)

Hi PK26,

You can do a speed test here:
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

If you're worried, ask your ISP what kind of dld/uld speeds you should be getting with your connection.

The kind of dld speeds you get with LW will vary depending on how many hosts you're dlding from, the quality of their connection etc etc. This sticky has lost of info & tips for maximising your dld/uld success:

(I've got a 256K ADSL & if I'm dlding from 10 hosts I can get between 28-30 KB/s. If there's only one host I'll get maybe 7-10 KB/s)

Thanks for the reply Birdy, I am on 512k ADSL with Tiscali in the UK. I am downloading 1 thing from 7 hosts and its reading at 5kps. I did a speedtest with adlsguide and its reading 467k which is not bad, so i will look at other avenues. Thanks again.

Have a read through this thread about ISPs who block or filter p2p:

Your ISP might be the problem!
