Download problem..

Everytime I download a music file it always downloads at normal speed till about 10-20% than it stops at 0kb and just disconnects when I resume it starts for like 3 seconds again and disconnects again. I never had this problem in the past. Please help.

This may or may not help but try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included.) You should make a note of your settings before you do this as it will ask you to reset them next time you open LW.

I deleted the .limewire and limewire from all of my "username" folders and the download problem still occurs.

Get the latest versions of Java & LW if you haven't already.

Try an experiment, downld a magnet link from here & see what happens http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml Do you still suffer the same problem?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?
12. Do you use the Resume/Find Sources function on all your files at one time?

1. Windows XP
2. XP firewall
3. 1gb
4. 13.4GB
5. Broadband (64k)
6. RCA - RCA Modem
7. Home
8. Lastest version from both site.
9. Rogers
10. No
11. True - Recieves but to a point.
12. No - I download till it finishes or else delete.

ISellParts, your problem might be with Rogers. Have a read of this:

Good luck;)

Rogers is now known to be shaping bandwidth against p2p users. They use special programs to detect specific p2p programs & control whether they can connect or how much bandwidth they're allowed. ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

So no way to go past this? =\

Lord of the Rings February 9th, 2006 02:03 PM

Talk with the technicians at Rogers. They might give exceptions to those who are incessive with requests to stop the filtering/shaping. Call them 10 times a day for 10 days, lol :D No I'm not sure of other options.

To be sure, downld a magnet link from here & see what speeds you get (should be able to get over 200 KB/s): http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml
If it slows down or you get slow speeds from the outset, then you're being shaped. It might take a little time before roger's anti-p2p program detects LW & applies the brakes.

Those magnet links are from a site. So if there's problems then it's either your set up or the ISP. For the latter, it will detect the LW program.

That is exactly what happens - I can download for the first 10-20% and than it goes straight to 0kb/sec. Any fix to this?
