Connection getting weaker....
 
Limewire worked very well before. Now the download speed dies in consecutive numbers. (No joke). Example: 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0kb When it reaches 0kb it stops and nothing happens after this. I am using a router. I have considered the option of portforwarding, but i didnt really think it is necessary, since limewire was working perfectly before the problem, without it. Any suggestions anyone?

Check this post ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire & see if you find your ISP on the list. Your symptoms are rather telling of an ISP bandwidth shaper aimed at p2p users.

Umm i read the post...and the best answer i could get was change ISP? Umm hell no? I dont even pay for it and it would cause way too much of a fuss...Is there any other way?

If you don't want to talk to the isp then ... probably not. As the site admin I can check your isp which is Rogers. Rogers is now shaping bandwidth for p2p use, I suspect using a special program that detects p2p programs, which is why your speeds start off ok but then gradually decrease. You could try changing ports but I'm not so sure this will trick such an anti-p2p program. I guess it depends on what ports they're scanning. Try a port somewhere between (49152 - 65535). Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change listening port. If possible also change the other connection port but if you're using upnp then don't worry about that. You may also need to adjust your firewall setting so it allows the new port number.

Other than this would be to try a proxy. A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions. Particularly page 2.

Yeah the weird thing is Limwire automatically changes my listining port random numbers like yesterday it was 40000+ now its 9517. Even when i restore to original settings. Why is this happening?

And for some off reason when LW started getting slower and slower before, my downloads in general were getting slower and slower too (Non LimeWire) downloads. Is there a way to fix this too?

Well my current port number is:65534 And i think it did the trick =)
Downloads are steady now...and good thx for all the help

But im still edgy about my questions up there ^^

After one hour of using 65534 it says this port is not availible. And the ports continue to change randomly everytime i restart LW
