Question about file size Why do I see so many files with the size of 851.7k when I do a search? No matter what I search for, the majority of the results are this size. |
Stay away from files less than 1 MB (1,000 KB); see WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link) as the file you noted is a virus. Why are they on the network, because there's organisations out there who want to damage the gnutella network & deliberately use auto-spamming techniques to thwart people's enthusiasm for using p2p programs. Google Overpeer to get an idea of what type of organisations are sponsored to do this. See autogenerated spam results to learn more about some other types of spam. Use your junk filter to help filter these out. Select them in the search results & press the junk button. The junk filter is a dynamic learning filter so it learns bit by bit what is junk. Admitedly viruses are the hardest to filter out. |
