1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included.)

2. Make sure both your firewall & modem/router are set up correctly; Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link)

If you'd like to try an experiment, try downlding a magnet link from here http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml & tell us what happens.

hey...results to ur experiment...clickin on the download links launched installation for limewire...also slowed my pc down immensely...

av tried searching and researching items but it still comes up as need more resources.

the file im trying to download at the moment has at least 50 shared users...

So what else happened when you tried to downld the magnet link video file? Did you get it to downld? If yes, at what speeds?

Even though there may be many sources, they may not have upload slots available or else you can't connect to them well enough. But my thoughts are more-so an isp issue.

Who is your isp (internet service provider company)?

tee2k53 February 23rd, 2006 01:27 PM

nah it didnt download...went straight to limewire installation...

isp is ntl... tho im connected via a router...

so how do i fix the slot problem???

It sounds to be an isp issue to me. If you suddenly can't connect to someone then it suggests isp shaping for p2p programs.

Let's check:
Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

What is the full name of ntl?

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included.) Do you have same problems after doing this?

If still no good, try changing your port from 6346 to one between (49152 - 65535) or 80. See if that makes a difference. You'd need to go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the port, press apply. Reconnect or re-open LW. See if that makes any difference.
